On behalf of The Great State of Ala-BAMA...My turn.. On behalf of The Great State of Ala-BAMA, (Roll Tide Yall), and the Honorable Senator Shelby, Howdy!!!
Up north, above the Mason Dixon Line, The average income may be figured at $70.00+ and in The Great State of Tennessee,$40.00+ for auto workers. But here in BAMA the State Economic indicators averaged the hourly wage, with benefit packages at around $22.00 an hour.
The main difference being...no Unions. Just simple folks a working and not griping about having to squabble over contracts. I'm sure those folks in Detroit are good folks. But, there is less hassle with production and less interference from outside sources wanting their cut of the pie. This lets the manufactures to invest more into employee benefits, better health insurance, retirement packages, community support and lest we forget company picnics.
Like Senator Shelby, I am not a fan of non-accountability. To many holes in this block of cheese.Ol Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08104714377087960892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27951078.post-77058054050922039802008-11-18T16:06:00.000-06:002008-11-18T16:06:00.000-06:00"You can lump agriculture in there too, as I'm sur..."You can lump agriculture in there too, as I'm sure our organizational leaders are working on our own bailout requests."

You are exactly right! The stimulus bill language released by Senate Approps today includes another ad hoc disaster assistance program for 2008 on top of the standing disaster program that was in the 2008 Farm Bill! And it also includes $50 million for catfish producers and "Such Sums Necessary" for assistance to processors and producers of sugar cane in FL and LA. Stimulus, indeed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27951078.post-29466043709264143222008-11-18T08:28:00.000-06:002008-11-18T08:28:00.000-06:00I will admit that I am one of those who feel that ...I will admit that I am one of those who feel that the bail out will benefit people who already have money, the so called fat cats. I am not in favor of government bailouts. However, it would seem that if it is OK even good to bail out the banks that it could not be bad to bail out the auto industry. The same logic would apply, it seems to me. That it doesn't would indicate to me politics as usual is still the strongest force in Washington. Sad. I had hoped for better, sooner. I knew it wasn't likely, but I hoped.

And yes, if there is going to be government bailouts, where is mine? Not available, I'll bet!buffalobillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05832548685655654659noreply@blogger.com
