JunkBox, Episode BRRRR...

The theory is the ground/roads will be in good shape to move grain. But working in single-digit temps is never easy.
  • One reason I shoot for average market prices: when you average women's faces it turns out pretty good. [More]
  • Foresters getting head start on climate change.
  • The only way compromise happens is when it has to. The reality of repeal odds are making it more obvious compromise is a better way.
  • The fight against food regulation is inextricably linked to a fight against commodity subsidies. I still think the end of farm programs will come from farmers' favorite politicians.
  • It's not so much a tunnel as a traffic pipeline. Pretty cool way to build one, IMHO.
  • Grain prices just keep getting cheaper (for some).
  • Kindles just keep getting better.
  • If you've read a Malcolm Gladwell book, you'll appreciate this.
I'm finishing "Mao's Great Famine".  It is horrifying and a must-read for farmers who want to understand their Chinese counterparts. I'll review it soon.

John, We wasted an entire year on a bill that should have been built on compromise and wasn't (one party locked completely out). Obama should quit dragging his feet (that would be compromise)and let the supreme court rule on this mess (could be done in 90 days) so we can get on with a bill made with TRUE compromise.
Legislation is like making balogna. But if arsnic is added (unconstitutional mandates?) you must recall the entire product and start the process over correctly or the consumer will get sick or worse.

Anon: The problem is that the current bill started out as a compromise. I hope your wish comes true--read John's post from Jan. 10, 2011.

The only "compromise" in the current bill was within Obamas' own party. The Republicans were totally shut out.
John maybe right in his Jan. post. Two Federal judges disagree with him. The High Court needs to decide this NOW so we can move foward.
Obama is putting his own wishes above the countries best interests by stalling on this.

I guess there weren't any Republicans involved with Baucus's Senate Finance Committe hearings. If Senator Grassley could have attended, I'm sure he would have brought lots of good ideas to the table. Maybe if Senator Olympia Snowe were allowed to attend and vote, she could have stopped this outrageous bill.
Maybe while the judges are at it, they can make it illegal to force us to buy auto insurance, too.

We all know this is going to be decided in the Supreme Court. I'm just saying let's hurry up and get there.
The Dems started this railroad job last year. The country didn't like the freight or the way it was loaded (Election results).
NOW it's time for the Dems to stop laying track and get to the station so we can see if we have to live with this train wreck or start over.
Quit stalling and get r done.
